How to convert WebM to MP3

  1. Tap Choose a video and pick your WebM file. Screen recordings and browser downloads are often saved in your Downloads folder.
  2. Leave the format on MP3 and pick the quality. 192 kbps is right for most music; 128 kbps is plenty for speech.

  • M4A (AAC) sounds a little better than MP3 at the same size and is the native format on iPhone and in iTunes.
  • WAV is uncompressed. Use it for editing in Audacity, GarageBand or a video editor. Files are about 10 MB per minute.
  • OGG is an open format used by some games, Android and Linux apps.

Frequently asked questions

Why can’t I play my WebM file?

WebM uses Opus or Vorbis audio, which some players, cars and older phones do not support. MP3 plays on everything.

Can I convert a WebM audio-only file?

Yes. Audio-only WebM files work too. For other audio formats, try the audio converter.

Is there a file size limit?

No fixed limit. Very large files, roughly over 500 MB, can run out of memory in a phone browser; a computer handles them better.
